Genevan Psalms Chorale Book

Dick Sanderman

This book was initially published in the Netherlands in 2004, after a long process of composition, which happened over the period September 2001 to October 2003. I am most honoured that the Canadian Reformed Churches intend to use this book during their services of worship. One of the things I had in mind while working on this book was the fact that in many congregations the singing of the Psalms does not happen at the quality it could. Congregations often wait for the organist to play the first chord at the beginning of each verse, and sometimes even at the beginning of every new line, then take a breath, and only then start singing.

D Day Dodger

Jim Holman

This book is an authentic, honest (sometimes painfully so) account of a Canadian foot soldier’s experiences in the Italian campaign in World War II. While the commanders knew the Big Picture, the infantryman seldom was aware that he was attacking the Hitler Line or the Gustav Line. He was simply told, “Cross that river and dig in on the other side.” Or “Go up that hill and hold the road.” As an 18 year old recruit, Jim Holman left his rural Ontario home for the first time to join up. From basic training through the voyage to Britain, and on to the front in Italy, Jim’s story is the personal account of so many young Canadian men… some of whom came home, and some of whom did not.

A Time to Dance

Margaret Ferraro

Time was coming my way. I took a leap of faith, and took the time to dance in my own way. I danced as a painter, painting dancers during their time to dance. It’s August 2010 now, almost one year and 125 paintings later. This project would have been a fantasy for any artist: to have the time and circumstances to paint for a year; to take a subject, any subject, and give way to your own sense of your curiosity; to explore every possibility and bring it into visual reality. It’s been a longing of mine to create a project of this magnitude for quite some time. This has definitely been my time to dance
